Bat Survey Season 2018

Bat survey season is in full swing which means we are either out late in the evening or up in the early hours watching buildings for emerging bats! Luckily this year we have a new group of keen surveyors helping us out. We held a training evening before the season kicked off to go oversaw to use our bat detectors and we carried out a mock survey at our office (which happens to be a bat roost!)

We have a high number of sites that we are carrying out bat surveys at this year and have had multiple confirmed roosts already. We also have some larger sites to survey this season, so we’ve invested in some brand-new bat detectors.

The cold weather at the start of May meant that we had to hold off on dawn surveys, but we have been able to get a few started in the last couple of weeks. For all our surveys, we follow the Bat Conservation Trust Good Practice Guidelines to make sure all our surveys are carried out in compliance with the expected standards.

Nurture Ecology were key for us in recommending many environmental enhancement measures that both helped our application pass and also should result in a real boost to the wildlife at our site. We found the whole team passionate about their work and always eager to listen and incorporate our plans. I would definitely recommend Nurture ecology for anyone looking for a similar service

We have worked together with Nurture Ecology on many of our developments across Jersey. The team are pragmatic and professional with their advice whilst maintaining a collaborative and friendly manner.  We would have no hesitation in recommending Nurture Ecology Limited

Nurture Ecology approached the project in a highly professional yet pragmatic manner, ensuring that all the necessary Planning and Parish requirements were fully met with the minimum of input from us. We wouldn’t hesitate to employ them again and can highly recommend them

Nurture Ecology were thorough in their approach enabling the development to progress in the safest of ways. The wildlife mitigation plans put into place have worked extremely well and Jersey Property Holdings are satisfied that the wildlife in the area will continue to thrive.

Jersey Electricity has employed Nurture Ecology for many projects over the past few years. We have worked with them on projects of varying sizes and complexity, involving both ecological consultancy work and land management works. Each time professional, clear and practical advice has been provided, allowing work to progress whilst minimising our impact on the local environment and prevent breach of any wildlife laws
