Full Time Countryside Ranger (Permanent)
Nurture Ecology is a professional ecological consultancy and land management company based on island. We undertake a huge variety of land management services for private and public landowners who want to improve the wildlife and amenity value of their land.
We are looking to recruit a hard working, motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our growing land management team as a permanent Countryside Ranger. The successful candidate will help our team undertake a diversity of land management tasks across a range of sites and habitats.
Job Requirements:
• Candidate must be physically fit & able to carry out heavy manual work
• A keen interest in nature and the environment
• Able to perform manual labour outdoors all year round in all weather conditions
• A positive ‘Can-do’ and motivated attitude
• Ability to speak and understand English
• A full driving Licence
• Local residency (5 Years)
The role will involve working in various environments such as woodlands, heathlands, grasslands and wetlands, undertaking a diverse range of duties including vegetation management, erecting fences, installing steps, making footpaths, pond construction, invasive plant control and general maintenance of sites etc. Tasks often include the use of strimmers, brushcutters and chainsaws as well as many hand tools. Experience in landscaping / outdoor / manual work is advantageous but not essential, but a keen interest and passion for nature is required.
The successful applicant must have a positive and outgoing outlook and desire to develop. The position is 42.5 hours per week Monday to Friday. The salary bracket is competitive and dependent on experience. Training will be provided on the job and extra training programmes both in Jersey and the UK are available to those who wish to further their knowledge.
