Preliminary Ecological Appraisal

  • What are Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs)?

This ecological survey (which can also be referred to as an Initial Ecological Assessment) is the baseline survey required to demonstrate protected wildlife and habitats have been considered as part of your Planning Application.
This initial scoping survey can take place at any time of year.

  • How do they work?

A PEA can be submitted early with your Planning Application, or will be asked for as part of the Planning Consultation phase. Planning and Land Resource Management may be satisfied with just the provided PEA, or may indicate further protected species surveys are required. We will advise you if this is likely to be the outcome early, as protected species surveys are constricted by seasonal time constraints.

Nurture Ecology were key for us in recommending many environmental enhancement measures that both helped our application pass and also should result in a real boost to the wildlife at our site. We found the whole team passionate about their work and always eager to listen and incorporate our plans. I would definitely recommend Nurture ecology for anyone looking for a similar service
