Green Retaining Wall, St Brelade’s Bay
A ‘green retaining wall’ was created by our team for a private property in St Brelade’s Bay, to replace a subsiding bank and wall that was being eroded by waves during high tide and collpasing. An engineered vegetated retaining wall system was chosen to maintain the beautiful character and landscape value of the bay, as this wall borders a busy promenade and is viewed from the beach.
Green Infrastructure for Environmental Gain
In order to demonstrate environmental gain, which is a Planning requirement for developments in the Coastal National Park, our client included a living wall as part of their Planning Application for an extension at this house in St Brelade. As there was very little room on the site, the idea of a living wall was discussed to create nectar rich 'vertical garden' on the new block wall of the extension.
