We are looking for an Assistant Ecologist to join our ecology team at Nurture Ecology. Our chosen candidate will ideally have an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in an environmental discipline, a strong work ethic and a love of nature. This is a great way to start your career in ecological consultancy, with career progression available through our CPD training programme.
The Role
Primary Responsibilities:
- Supporting our ecologists and working on a variety of interesting projects
- Carrying out field surveys for all protected species groups
- Compiling field data for use in ecological reports
- Report writing and mapping
- Reviewing biodiversity records
What We are Looking For
We are looking for someone with the following;
- Ideally, a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree
- A demonstratable interest and enthusiasm for ecology and wildlife
- Ability to write clear and concise reports
- A full driving licence, with at least 2 years of driving experience
- Skilled in Microsoft Office
- Motivated and positive outlook
Ideally you will also have:
- Protected species survey experience preferred
- Experience in bat sound analysis
- Experience in ArcGIS
- Eligibility for CIEEM membership
BENEFITS, SALARY AND HOURS
- 37.5 hours per week Mon – Fri, which will include dusk and dawn bat surveys. There is also the opportunity to undertake additional paid surveys

- Paid professional body membership (CIEEM)
- 20 holidays pro rata plus bank holidays, with a pro rata starting salary of £28 000 - £30 000 per annum.
