We are recruiting for an Assistant Ecologist *Position Filled*

We are looking for an Assistant Ecologist to join our ecology team at Nurture Ecology. Our chosen candidate will ideally have an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in an environmental discipline, a strong work ethic and a love of nature. This is a great way to start your career in ecological consultancy, with career progression available through our CPD training programme.

The Role

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supporting our ecologists and working on a variety of interesting projects
  • Carrying out field surveys for all protected species groups
  • Compiling field data for use in ecological reports
  • Report writing and mapping
  • Reviewing biodiversity records

 

What We are Looking For

We are looking for someone with the following; 

  • Ideally, a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree
  • A demonstratable interest and enthusiasm for ecology and wildlife 
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports
  • A full driving licence, with at least 2 years of driving experience
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office
  • Motivated and positive outlook 

Ideally you will also have:

  • Protected species survey experience preferred
  • Experience in bat sound analysis
  • Experience in ArcGIS
  • Eligibility for CIEEM membership

 

BENEFITS, SALARY AND HOURS

  • 37.5 hours per week Mon – Fri, which will include dusk and dawn bat surveys. There is also the opportunity to undertake additional paid surveys
  • Clear career progression via a paid CPD programme
  • Paid professional body membership (CIEEM)
  • 20 holidays pro rata plus bank holidays, with a pro rata starting salary of £28 000 -  £30 000 per annum.
